About Us

A 100 piece photography collection by award-winning duo Peter and Chris Parks.

Throughout both these accomplished Photographers' careers, the ocean has always been a prevalent theme. The reason for this is the most important, but oft-overlooked organisms - The Plankton. Shot on film and spanning the last 40 years of ocean expeditions, these pictures document the microscopic base of the food chain and the source of most of the air that we breathe.

While tackling the challenges of filming the ocean's smallest inhabitants, Peter and Chris developed the Optics, Cameras, Rigs, and Techniques that enabled their work in Feature Films, Commercials, Documentaries, and IMAX. This collection is pulled from their extensive archive and consists of their favorite and most meaningful pieces.

Engaging Audiences

Telling the stories we find important is about engaging our audiences. That’s why we use narrative, 3D, AR/VR, and now NFTs. As technology progresses so the way we tell stories will change with it. NFTs are incredible at engaging audiences, and we believe that that potential is only just starting to be realized for storytelling and direct action projects.

Collector Involvement

Using NFTs as the ‘base’ for all our future projects means that we can involve our collectors in some of the future decisions, and continually improve upon our experiences through feedback. Content creation is all about communication and having our community involved will ensure that we are communicating as effectively as possible.

Stimulating Curiosity

Our vision of the future is a world where people coexist within nature and embrace the diversity of life on earth. We want to inspire change by stimulating curiosity in the natural world. In revealing beauty in unexpected ways, we hope to inspire and remind our audiences of what we have to lose while telling incredible and engaging stories.

The Team

Peter Parks

Artist, Photographer and Filmmaker

Peter is an accomplished wildlife Cameraman/Director, marine biologist, engineer, artist and author who has spent 60 years creating some of the most innovative imagery across almost all areas of the film industry.

Peter has spent most of that time engrossed in the world of nature, be it underwater on The Great Barrier Reef of Australia, or an obscure island off the coast of Bermuda, in mid Atlantic, or conjuring up weird and wonderful special effects, based upon nature and natural science, for Feature Films, TV productions, or Imax spectaculars, both at OSF, the company he cofounded with others in 1968 and helped lead for twenty five years, or within Image Quest 3-D, for the following twenty seven years with his son, Chris.

He was honoured by the American Academy with an Oscar in 1983 and invested by Her Majesty The Queen with an OBE a year later.
All that while he was dreaming up the Umbrij saga and its many dramatic episodes, all of which draw upon those many years of encounter, experience and anecdotal exchanges with close friends in the field of wildlife filming and research.

He is currently designing and installing a major, permanent marine exhibit, alongside his financial partner’s Tallship build and repair development, within the spectacular fishing village and harbour of Charlestown, Cornwall.

Chris Parks

Artist, Photographer and Filmmaker

Chris is an artist and filmmaker known for creating vast expansive worlds and impossible to film visuals, without digital enhancement, including iconic works for Terrence Malick’s ‘The Tree of Life’, Darren Aronofsky’s ‘The Fountain and Justin Kurzel’s ‘Assassin’s Creed’.

Chris developed his unique style and his technique for painting within very small volumes of liquid after leaving the Royal College of Art in London and while working alongside Peter as a wildlife cameraman, specialising in capturing the very smallest creatures on our planet. This work led to him working and exhibiting internationally.

He has been called on by a glittering array of the world's top brands to collaborate on commercials projects. This includes work for companies such as Vogue, Apple, Sony, Rolls Royce, Coca Cola and Hennessy. However, it was the advent of NFTs that finally created an outlet for Chris's video paintings. Since entering the space in early 2021 he has fully embraced NFTs, both as a successful solo artist and in collaboration with others.

Chris is regularly in demand by music artists and this includes him supporting Simian Mobile Disco for a one hour set at London’s Barbican. Chris and his team created, live, continuously evolving art pieces to accompany SMD, which were projected onto the giant cinema screen behind the band as they performed their new Album “Murmurations’.

Alongside his abstract work, Chris gets brought on board some of Hollywood’s biggest films to supervise the stereo 3D. Following four years as stereo supervisor for ‘Gravity’, Chris has been responsible for the 3D across films that include ‘Edge of Tomorrow’, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ and has recently completed work on the latest Bond film, and the only one to be made in 3D, 'No Time to Die'.

Ben Kozar

Community Manager

Ben is a Web3 native and experienced community builder with a passion for NFTs. Working roles in Sales & Marketing previously, he always had a personal interest in crypto, but professionally entered the space in 2021.

Since then he has led community efforts and marketing in generative projects, Defi protocols, and even a TV show.

Storytelling has always been a passion of his, and he is an extensive reader and writes as well. He believes that NFTs are providing us with new ways to tell stories and expand the human experience.

Our vision of the future is a world where people coexist with nature and embrace the diversity of life on earth.

We want to inspire change by stimulating curiosity in the natural world. In revealing beauty in unexpected ways, we seek to further people’s journeys within the space, through engaging them in shared experiences.

Where to see more

Websites and past work

The work that is showcased in the Invisible Oceans Founder's Collection is the foundation of all the work that followed. Whether creating galactic events for science fiction films, supervising the stereo 3D on Studio Features or developing VR experiences that would be featured in the Smithsonian AMNH in Washington, the inspiration and technology that made it all possible was first developed to create the images that you see here. If you want to see a bit more of what came from that, and what will provide the material for future NFT collections and the utility that these collections will hold, then you can see more of Peter and Chris's work in these sites.
